Bettmeralp is situated on a high plateau at the top end of Valais at an altitude of 2,000 m above sea level, approximately 1,000 m above the Rhone valley and thus far from the traffic and hectic bustle of everyday life. It is backed by the Bettmerhorn and Eggishorn mountains and the Aletsch glacier, the biggest in Europe, a UNESCO World Heritage site! How to get there: there are hourly connections from Brig to Betten (it’s just a 17 min. ride). From Betten station you are carried up gently to Bettmeralp by the large cable-cabin. (Hourly train connections to Brig from Bern and Lausanne (1h 40min), and from Geneva (2h 20min). From Zurich it takes 3h and you may have to change in Bern.
